ISO 12207 and GAMP 5 reference
The process Development can be completely realized with the V-Model. The development process of the ISO 12207, however, does not only refer to the software development activities of the V-Model but also to quality assurance, and, in part, to PM and CM activities. The ISO 12207 tasks also include review tasks during the development process of software development activities. Though the ISO 12207 standard defines independent quality assurance processes (see "Supporting Processes"), they are not referred to at this point. Therefore, the development process includes submodel SD (with the exception of the hardware) and also parts of submodel QA of the V-Model.
Process Maintenance is covered in the V-Model only with regard to general software maintenance and modification activities. The V-Model does not cover the aspect "Software Retirement".
Since the V-Model is a development standard, process Operation has not been regulated. Some QA, CM, and PM activities, however, may well be applied to process operation. Acquisition Process
